The Ervana

Remember that ship Han Solo used to capture the Millennium Falcon in The Force Awakens? Yeah, me neither. It doesn't have much screen time, and you don't get a good look at it really, at least from the outside. We see plenty of the interior, during the rathtar (not to be confused with Raptar, from Rugrats) scene, but it's one of the scenes I'd rather forget. So I honestly didn't recognize this SHIP by builder Forgotten Days when I first looked at it. But I find that encouraging because I was ready to blog it before I knew it was from Star Wars, so maybe I'm not completely biased (spoiler alert, I'm completely biased).

Small Moments From A Galaxy Far Far Away

I'm really enjoying this series of pictures inspired by Star Wars: A New Hope by builder CozzD. Some are recreations of iconic shots, some are fanciful interpretations, all are top notch lighting and photography. There's even a few with some additional visual effects like smoke, blaster bolts and impacts, all very well done. Click through to see several more pics.

BB-8

Everyone loves BB-8. Ever since The Force Awakens released it's first teaser trailer the world has been captivated by this little rolling wonder. There's been many LEGO renditions of this little dude, and now famed brick artist Powerpig has added him to his line of Brick Sketches. You can practically hear his charming little voice can't you?

Kylo

I wasn't too sure about Kylo Ren, even after my first viewing of The Force Awakens. But I have warmed up to him since (well, as much as you warm up to a murdering, foul tempered wannabe sith). But how can you resist him as a Brick Sketch by Powerpig? I wouldn't say I'm ready to declare my allegiance, but I have to admit I'm thinking of putting on TFA while I work.

"Bounty Hunters, We Don't Need Their Scum"

It's an iconic scene in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader addressing a motley collection of bounty hunters. It was also our first peek at that character we were all so excited to see since we all had his action figure before the movie came out, Boba Fett. This recreation of the bridge of Vader's Super Star Destroyer Executor by builder Forgotten Days turned out amazing. Makes me wonder why this hasn't been an official set yet.

Oh, What a Day for Racing!

Cecilie has been rocking some fantastic StarWars creations lately for the Moc-Olympics. We've featured her previous entry here on BrickNerd just a few weeks ago and we're constantly in amazement (and sometimes between bidding wars on who gets to blog) what she builds next! Cecilie's entry for potential 3rd place, is number one winner in my books, Teemto Pagalies' Podracer. Not only is the color choices spectacular, the whole creation defies gravity. Watch out racers, this is not a pod you want to mess with!

UCS Sith Fury-Class Interceptor

Markus19840420 recently discovered The Old Republic theme, and created this Ultimate Collector's Series ship for the German Star Wars Moc-Olympics contest.  You may recall there was an official minifig scale ship a few years back.  What I like about this is that it looks like a mash-up between a TIE Fighter and a Star Destroyer.  So my question to Markus would be, what noise do you make when you swoosh it?

Stunning 7ft Star Destroyer

You know you're building on a whole different level when your MOC requires special handling and support, a team to construct and you can't find a background large enough to shoot a picture of it. This absolutely magnificent Star Destroyer would impress even the dark lord himself. At over 7 feet long and weighing in at about 42k bricks, it's a stunning achievement. More pictures are promised from OliveSeon, but these and a few more on their photostream will have to hold you for now.

Star Wars Rogue One: Chirrut Îmwe

It's fantastic that the Imperium der Steine MOC Olympics contest is coinciding with the hype engine of Lucasfilm for Rogue One, I think. I mean, I'm already super excited for the movie, and I love these MOCs, but there's only so much my feeble nerd heart can take. One of the characters I find the most fascinating is Chirrup Îmwe, depicted here in this stunning MOC by cecilihf. He looks totally bad ass, and I can't wait to see him in action.

Rogue One: Attack On Scarif

I'm totally excited by Rogue One (as if you didn't know that) I even shot a trailer reaction video yesterday. I'm also a huge fan of Microfighters, so to see these SWRO chibi style fighters on a diorama gives me great joy. There's rebel troops attacking, imperials counterattacking, two AT-AT's, one U-Wing, one TIE Striker, a bunker and I presume a shield generator (it's always a shield generator) all on a 48x48 base. Nice work Boba-1980!

Just Bobbling Around

This six-pack of Star Wars characters by LegoJalex is the perfect mashup of two highly collectible things: LEGO and bobbleheads. All of the characters are wonderfully chibi, and they very nicely recreate the originals despite their simplicity. And of course, all the figures really bobble, using a brilliantly simple mechanism. Check out the video to see them in action.

Rogue One: Secret Room Scene

Ha!  I beat Tommy to a Star Wars post!!!  Gotta appreciate Markus19840420's attention to detail and cinematography in this shot.  At first I figured it was just another one of those post-some-minifigs-over-the-still-shot deals, but oh no, that's all LEGO.  The scene was built for a contest called IDSMO IV, which is a German Star Wars Moc Olympics.  But it's more than a nifty build, it's the mastery of the two art forms of LEGO and photography.  Well done, Markus!

Pit Droid

It's become somewhat cool to dis the Star Wars prequels, but I was doing it before it was cool. While The Phantom Menace is arguably the worst of the three, it does have a few redeeming qualities, and these little dudes are one of them. Pit Droids, like this one from nobu_tary, were maintenance robots in the pit areas of pod racers. But they're skills just may have extended past that, because that scene was one of the other redeeming qualities of the film...coincidence?

Coming Soon To A Galaxy Near You

The force is strong with Flickr this morning, due in part to the ImperiumderSteine MOC Olympics., and that make my nerd heart happy. This absolutely brilliant poster from episode IV by builder Gamabomb takes me back to my childhood, where I spent all of the summer of 1978 watching Star Wars practically every day, many times twice a day. And every trip to the theater started with a brief pause to admire this poster hanging outside.

I Find Your Lack Of Faith Disturbing

It's a Star Warsriffic morning here at BrickNerd, and I'm totally ok with that. This interior diorama by Boba-1980 is so clean that it's actually deceptive. There's a whole lot of detail and clever building going on here, in a compact and wonderful recreation from an iconic scene from the greatest movie of all time (my opinion of course, but your argument is invalid).

Rebels Have the Cooler Bases

This is truly a clean and pristine build!  Paul Trach hasn't added too much color, there aren't too many vines, and there aren't too many details on the floor.  Perfect, this build has become!  The walls are my favorite part, personally, due to the angling and the style of construction.  Other details that make this build great are the floor paint, the little cranes, and especially the sleek hangar transport device.  I would love to be based out of this outpost rather than a formal Imperial station.  How about you?!

Nathaniel Stoner

My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations).

When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever.

My hope is to inspire other young (and perhaps even older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity!  You can find me on my Flikr here

"Begin Landing Your Troops"

I must admit, I have watched the new Rogue One trailer too many times already.  One thing that I have noticed in the trailer, along with many other Star Wars fans, is the new Imperial tank (for lack of a better title).  It can be seen in a few, quick shots within the two trailers for the film so far.  Along with the tank, it appears to have a new form of Stormtrooper, and I can only assume he is similar to a TIE pilot, only for this new craft.  Kevin Wollert (having now completed his Harry Potter vignette series) has designed a well-crafted replica of this new vehicle introduced in the Star Wars universe.  The is a phenomenal recreation of the new iconic vehicle, and it's going to be tough to beat!  Well done, Kevin!

"Together, We Can Rule The Galaxy As Father And Son."

The duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader on Bespin is one of those iconic scenes which we see revisited in the brick a lot by many different builders, but I'm very fond of this new model by Vitreolum. He achieves a very clean look by using mostly monochrome light bluish gray parts, with minimal visible studs, which fits the scene well in my opinion.

Big Boga!

*Insert Varactyl call here*

Markus Rollbühler has just built a beautiful and colorful replica of Boga, the creature that Obi-Wan rides around on Utapau while searching for General Grievous in Revenge of the Sith.  The craftsmanship in this model speaks for itself, especially with that dynamic pose Boga has done for the picture!  Markus has used his chosen colors very well - you're immediately drawn to the head of the Varactyl, which is built so well.  However, the tail, legs, main body, and dark orange base are also worth noting.  When I was a kid I wanted a pet Boga, but now I just want this model for in a case in my room!  Well done, Markus.  Thanks for bringing this great creature to life with your skills.
