Get Away From Her You...

Who can ever forget that first time you saw Aliens and the queen showed up at the end (spoilers?) After the first 90% of the movie that was already like riding a rollercoaster with your hair on fire holding a rabid cat this baby pops out of the drop ship and you soil your seat. Well now Sir Nadroj has build a brick version of her and she's a beauty. May I suggest a power suit and Ripley next? Has to be done Jordan, get to work.

Proteus Rover

FebRovery is almost over, but cool spacefaring rovers are still coming in, like this way cool dual driver model from builder TrapleS. There's a realistic quality to this rover, while still looking very slick. It reminds me of the rover in The Martian, which was based on proper research and consultation with NASA and JPL (with an added touch of Hollywood design of course).

Cylon Raider

My US contemporaries will remember the Sears Wishbook. That venerable catalog of all things Christmas that we waited for every year and wore out well before the holiday ever came. Well, when I was about 10 years old I noticed an error in the wishbook, they had accidentally swapped the name of the Cylon Raider, as seen here in this marvelous MOC by builder 2 x 4, and the Colonial Viper model kits. Well, I wasn't going to stand for that and wrote a letter to Sears. Flash forward a few months and I got a package in the mail along with a nice letter. I can't remember all the details, but an executive from Sears explained that clearly some of the staff wasn't as big of a fan of Battlestar Galactica as he and I were, and to enjoy both the models for free. I was very happy.

Blurred Vision

I feel the need, the need for speed!. One of things I love to see is great Lego photography.  granada_tunier blurs the background to give the impression of high speed movement, almost like being in a wind tunnel and the rover looks like its been driven straight off of the next "Rescue Matt Damon" Space Adventure! Built as part of the Febrovery 2016 build challenge, this will take some beating.

Rescue Eagle

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Space:1999. Back when we were kids we had a hard time getting through any given episode, there was just so much talky talky. But we still tuned in even if we were playing with space toys while it was on in the background. Builder and Gerry Anderson buff Bricks for Brains has crafted a perfect rescue Eagle here seen on pad 5. I just wanna swoosh it!

Space Jockey

It's the second moment in Ridley Scott's masterpiece Alien where you're just going "what the heck?" with feelings of dread and wonder painfully intermixed. The discovery of the large alien being, apparently killed by something that burst out of it's chest, the "space jockey". It's so bizarre, so complexly alien that it's hard to wrap your head around, and it leaves you unsettled. And things just got worse for the crew from there. Builder GeoffreyWelch does this Giger inspired cinematic icon justice.

Night Shift

All the guys in the spacesuits with their cool machines and crafts get all the glory. No one gives much thought to the guys emptying the trash and making sure those futuristic floors shine. Take for instance this unsung hero, cleaning the floor of this beautifully lit corridor (thanks to excellent use of Brickstuff lights) by builder justin_m_winn. I'm going to call him Jerry, thanks Jerry.

Rover

We see a lot of rovers in the AFOL community and on Flickr. I can understand why, space is a classic theme, and everyone loves a fun space build. But with all those rovers being made it's hard to stand out, so I tend to overlook them quite often. Then I see this awesome rover by TrapleS. It does sorta look like the mars rover got busy with a light bulb, but that's what I love about it.

Lime Explorer

Builder Rogue Bantha continues his exploration of color, and things are getting interesting. Not that I have anything against some classic grey, blue and yellow, but seeing some splashes of unusual color, combined with his spectacular building style and skill, makes for some eye popping MOCs. The overall shape is unusual, the greebs are nice and the build is clean. This is pretty awesome.

BokBokTron Thigh Fighter

You really do not want to mess with the chickens of BokBokTron. While a peaceful exploration corps at heart, when confronted they will not back down, and you just might find yourself at the receiving end of this beast, the Thigh Fighter by builder MacLane. With it's twin missile batteries, redundant cockpit capability and Kinetic Frame Control (KFC) technology, you just might find yourself extra crispy.

Astra Luminaria

This is one of those MOCs that makes you go "whaaaaaaaa?" This gorgeous and unconventional space ship by d2hiriyuu is as much art as it is fantastical science fiction. The geodesic construction alone is enough to boggle the mind and delight the eyes. But add to that the surrounding structure and internal illumination and you have one absolutely jaw-dropping piece of art.
