Retro Handheld Action

Over the years there have been many attempts to get a piece of the handheld market from Nintendo. One that was actually not bad was the Neo Geo Color. It ate batteries like there was no tomorrow, but it came with Sonic The Hedgehog, which was pretty cool. This version by lego27bricks is spot-on.

Magnetic Drill

This excellent bit of machinery comes from Gilcélio, who is presently battling it out with Lego Junkie in the latest Iron Builder. I've never used this particular device, but I'd swear from a thumbnail it was a actual tool and not LEGO.

He Who Draws The Sword From The Stone, He Shall Be King

I am irresistibly drawn to this MOC by Gilcélio. John Boorman's Excalibur is one of my favorite movies, I was married at the Excalibur and I really dig a good MOC. Don't you want to just reach in there and try and pull it?

Brick Lickin' Good

I've done a decent amount of world traveling, and one that that always amazes me (besides the cost of LEGO) is American fast food is EVERYWHERE. I was stunned at the number of Subways and KFCs in the UK. But I suppose it was a little taste of home when I needed it. This combo meal with a toy by M1di appears to have just as much nutritional value as well, and is way more awesome.

Bonsai

This beautiful bonsai tree by Brickthing is perfectly suited to my level of green thumb, easily repaired and impossible to kill. I especially like the use of the Chima spider legs, and don't get so caught up in admiring the tree that you miss the base it's on, it's a small work of art too.

Mmmmmm Lobster

I didn't get to eat lobster as a kid. I remember my parents having it from time to time, but it seemed every time they did, it was TV dinners for me and my siblings. Yes, while they ate lobster, I had salisbury steak, and you know what? I was fine with that. I'm an adult now though, and this MOC by F'Alves is making me hungry.

Play Some Run-D.M.C!

Little known fact: I was a breakdancer. Yes, it's probably hard to imagine me poppin' and lockin', but it's true. I was even briefly in a dance crew and we weren't half bad, even won free pizza at Showbiz Pizza Place, but I digress. This MOC by oLaF LM certainly brings back some memories, I can practically hear Twilight 22 blasting out of this thing. Now where's my parachute pants...?

Brush Up!

It's one thing to instantly recognize an object, it's another to realize it's much, much bigger or smaller than you first expected. I think builder Carlmerriam is just messing with us, playing with scale as well as expertly building. Not only is this toothbrush crazy realistic, it's colossal. It's a total mind-bender.

Bring On The Mundane!

Here's a pretty cool little contest going on Flickr. It started as just a private little contest on a small Facebook group, but now it belongs to the world! The concept is pretty simple, build a bit of hardware or a real world object. There's no prizes but who cares, it's awesome!

HARDnuary

There's an event going on, called HARDnuary, where builders have been challenged to build hardware and everyday items. I have a weakness for props and everyday items so it's just my speed. Unfortunately I know very little about this event, please comment if you know anything more. I'm digging these entries by Kosmas Santosa. Looking forward to seeing more.

Educated Pew Pew

I'm not a huge gun fan, nor have I ever played Titanfall, but this Smart Pistol MK5 by Nick Brick caught my eye. I don't know how accurate it is, there seems to be a bit of a lack of reference images, but I think that's even more impressive if a good percentage of this is extrapolated. And you all know I can't resist a good LEGO Prop.

UPDATE: Nick Brick assures me that it's accurate. He also pointed out that the game isn't out yet (so I have a great excuse for not having played it yet)

Who You Gonna Call?

Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, and to bust ghosts. I woke up with the Ghostbusters music stuck in my head. Not that crap Ray Parker Jr. ripoff of Huey Lewis, but the score by Elmer Bernstein. That of course got me thinking about the movie, which inevitably led to props, which led to this, one of my favorite LEGO props ever built. This ghost trap by Profound Whatever makes me smile whenever I see it. Sure the stripes are strait on top, but it's still friggin' awesome.

'Twas Pretty Funny

In just over two weeks when I put out some cookies for the big man I can only hope to have this delicious an assortment. I can also hope there's no mice in my cupboards. This MOC from True Dimensions cracked me up. Happy holidays!

Stabby McStab

I remember being a bit fascinated by combat and survival knives in high school. I even had one with a camo grip and nifty compass on the end. I still have a very nice Buck my brother gave me that I don't camp without. It's not as cool as this Halo combat by Pink Stormtrooper though. Not so much for being a knife, but for being a knife built this nice out of LEGO. Sure you can't slice potatoes with it, but who cares?

Illumination

Brucywan has done it again with this clean, beautiful little bankers light. Even with something this small and simple, there's little surprises. Take a look at the stand, that's a microfig in the middle, brilliant.

Pardon my nod the the Beastie Boys. Brucywan continues his plot for world domination through the recreation of everything in LEGO. Here we see his classic pine Car-Freshner. All the ambience without the horrible pine scent.

You Could Not Wish For A Finer Blade

One of the greatest accomplishments of The Hobbit (and Lord of the Rings for that matter) is the production design. Especially the armor and weapons. The elvish weapons are just gorgeous. And this MOC by Cole Edmonson of Thorin's blade captures the elegant lines and distinct design so well.

Mmmm, Breakfast

Schfio has put out quite spread this morning. And what better way to start your day than with a delicious breakfast including cereal, toast, cheese and eggs. I love how the butter has the corner taken off, brilliant.  Alright, now I'm hungry.

Mmmmm, Tuna

I'm no fan of sushi. And don't try to tell me "oh, you just haven't had good sushi" , because I've fallen for that before. I've been talked into it several times, and I've come to the conclusion that sushi simply isn't my thing. But I love tuna, and I love this MOC.

Go Yankees!

As many of you know I'm not much of a sports fan. I rarely watch any games, and I can't recall the last time I saw baseball being played. Maybe if the players used jetpacks and the ball was remote controlled it would capture my interest, I dunno. I dig this MOC though.
