It would appear those infamous Blacktron baddies are dabbling in genetic engineering. But considering how cool this creature by Rogue Bantha is, I'm kinda OK with it. Check out the multiple layers of spherical awesome that make up the head, amazing.

The Jongleurs Tale

Can anything quite capture the imagination like a classic battle between dragon and knight in shining armor? This may be Dodge's sole entry into CCCXI, but it's excellent. I've seen attempts to convey thought bubbles and stories this way, but I think this is one of the most successful.

Gruhzak Gur

These orcs know how to party! This is the wooden fortress of the orcs of northern Middle Earth, Gruzak Gur according to builder Disco86. I like to imagine they're celebrating 2014 just like the rest of us, but with with orc style (and maybe some man flesh, they are orcs after all).

The Blacksmith's Son

Here's another stellar submission for CCCXI. The Classic Castles Contest always brings out the best in builders, but this year seems to be especially good. There have been so many amazing MOCs. I love the attention to details in this one, from the window boxes to the well it's just packed with little nuggets of awesome. Nice work Atte!

The Source Of Eternal Life

Now wouldn't this be a fun little discovery while trekking through the woods? Minding your own business and suddenly there's a fountain of youth right there in front of you. This is a excellent example of creative lighting to truly make a MOC. Using LED lighting strips, markus19840420 under lit the water in this scene. That twisted trunk on the center tree is really cool too.

Cyclopean Warbots

You can always count on builder Karf Oohlu to show you ways to use parts you never would have imagined. We've seen mini fig helmets used as shoulders before, but have you ever seen them combined with rotary saws to build a console? The scale of this MOC is fun too, with microfigs in a diorama.

Gisellicburg

Mark of Falworth is one of my favorite castle builders, and builds like this are the reason why. It's not just a matter of scale, detail, story or clever part use that takes a MOC to the next level. It's a marriage of all the right elements in harmonious balance. This is a thing of beauty.

Here We Go!

I shudder to think how many hours I dedicated to N64. Between Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Rogue Squadron I chewed up a fair chunk of my life, but I don't regret it. This tribute to the first level of SM64 by Pepa Quin just makes me smile.

Thatched Loveliness

I don't know what it is about round displays, I suspect it's because they defy the "squarish" nature of LEGO, but they're always so compelling. And that's just the beginning of all the eye candy in this MOC by Derfel Cadern. I mean look at that thatched roof! And the off kilter buildings, the stonework, the details, it's all beautiful.

I Shall Build A Round Table, And A Hall About The Table, And A Castle About The Hall

Sorry, couldn't resist a little nod to one of my all time favorite movies, Excalibur. This build by Disco86 is just stunning. Everything is so clean and well presented. And that curved wall is amazing. I can't imagine how much tension that is under, but the stressed bricks are worth it when it call comes together this well.

Rhosgobel, The Dwelling Of Radagast

We're just weeks away from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and the timing is perfect for this lush MOC by Legopard. It features the eccentric and naturalistic house of Radagast the brown (yes, the wizard with the bird under his hat).

Jester's Prestige

CCCXI is heating up and the entries are getting more eye-popping. I love the houses in this MOC by Derfel Cadarn, with their sagging roofs and rich detail. And the textures on those walls is amazing. Really, how can you go wrong with two jesters fighting to the death?

Barrel Escape

December is almost here, and with it come holiday cheer, ginger bread lattes and... oh who am I kidding, it's all about Desolation of Smaug! Disco86 brings us this excellent MOC depicting the hair raising barrel escape. 

Training By The Brook

This excellent MOC depicts a young William Wallace training, but I'm more captivated by that babbling brook. I've never seen horn pieces used to simulate water texture, very cool effect. The tree is quite nice too.

Magic Cave

The glowing water effect in this MOC is achieved with LED strips, and with stellar results. There must be some serious riches in that chest, because from the looks of all the skeletons in this cave there's no way I'd be wading in there. 

Oasis Encounter

Last week while driving in LA I spotted a guy stuck on Lincoln Blvd actually using a hookah in his car, today I see one brick-built, coincidence? Well, hardly, but this is a cool MOC by Disco86 anyway.

Viking Fortress

I love a little winter scene, and this is a fine example. The cracked ice is a great effect, and the snow caps on everything is very effective. Although it would appear that the little horns are just precariously balanced on those windows. Nice work Lukasz.

When Minotaurs Attack...Tonight At 11

There's no description for this, nor is the name of the image particularly helpful, but it's a pretty stunning build. There's loads of detail on this MOC, everywhere you look. And some really cool and subtle (and not so subtle) architecture techniques. Click through to check out the larger image, it's worth it.

Captain America Vs The Red Skull

Kaboom! Wasn't expecting that were you? The Cap makes his own door in this cool little diorama by Julius No. I love captured action, especially in photos (in real life it's always cool, but a little weird) and the this wall-busting action is excellent. And check out that custom Red Skull figure, nice!

The Tower

Oh my. I was all set to go out and set up to shoot episode 106, but I thought "one last peek at Flickr". That's when I saw this. I implore you dear readers to stop what you're doing and click through. Then look at the larger versions of this and all the pictures. This is an absolute visual treat, from bottom to top.
